How Human Rangeâ„¢ works

Potential is not having more strengths. It's having more range.

  1. The problem. We over-identify with the strengths that come naturally to us, and keep reaching for them.
  2. The insight. Every strength has a shadow when it's overused, and its apparent opposite is often another healthy strength.
  3. The opportunity. The more healthy responses you can access, the less trapped you are by personality, habit, fear, or circumstance.
  4. The model. The Human Range Wheelâ„¢ maps 67 pairs of strengths across 12 domains of life.
  5. The measurement. Your Human Range Scoreâ„¢ shows where your range is open and where it becomes one-sided.
  6. The path. Personalized Range Practices help you develop the healthy opposite, instead of just suppressing the strength you already have.
  7. The promise. A fuller, more effective life, with more freedom to respond wisely to what each moment requires.
An exampleDiscipline ↔ Rest

Discipline

Right when you're building a skill or keeping a commitment after motivation is gone.

Overused, it becomes Rigidity: you can't cancel a workout when your child is sick, and you feel guilty on vacation.

How it judges the other side"They just don't want it badly enough."

Rest

Right when you've finished a sprint, you're grieving, or the quality of your work is dropping.

Overused, it becomes Sloth: "resting" from work you never started, rest as a way to avoid things.

How it judges the other side"They're addicted to hustle. They'll burn out."

Range Mastery: works with full intensity, rests without guilt, and knows which one the moment is asking for. On the wheel, you'll find this tension as Labor ↔ Sabbath in Work & Mission.

How to read the Human Range Wheel

  • Center: the Constants. Four things that never change, no matter the situation. Everything else on the wheel flexes around them.
  • Inner ring: 12 domains. The areas of life, from Body and Mind to Work, Money, and Relationships.
  • Middle ring: pairs of strengths. Each slice is split in two. The halves are opposite strengths, and both are good.
  • Outer ring: shadows. The darker rim shows what the strength right beside it becomes when it's overused.

How to use it

  1. Start where life feels stuck. A tense relationship, a stalled project, a money worry. Tap that domain.
  2. Pick the side you default to. Be honest about what you actually do, not what you admire.
  3. Read its shadow. If the signs sound familiar, you've found a growth area.
  4. Practice the opposite side for one week. Something small. You're not abandoning your strength, you're adding its partner.
  5. Take the free Human360 Assessment to get your Human Range Score and your priority growth areas.
The goal isn't the middle. The goal is access. You can move strongly toward either strength when the moment calls for it, without getting trapped there. Don't change who you are. Expand who you can be.
